My gaze followed Jax as he slammed the door behind him. I knew he'd be mad, but I didn't realize he'd be this angry.

My phone buzzed again. "Shit.” I held my phone in front of me. I could handle Trystan being mad at me, but the truth was they were both going to take it out on Cam when, in reality, it was my choice to go.

I swiped right, smiling for the camera as Trystan's face lit up the screen.

"What the fuck, Kai?" Trystan snapped, anger illuminating his face. "The Cages? Really?"

"I know it was stupid." I sighed.

His jaw flexed as he shook his head." Are you okay?"

I nodded. "I'm okay. I have to stay off my ankle for a few days, but then I'll be back to normal."

"Why would you go to the Cages?" I wasn't going to answer that. I wasn't going to bring her into this. So I said nothing. "Cam, right?"

I tilted my head to the side. "This has nothing to do with her." If he wanted a reason to be angry with her, he wouldn't get it from me.

"Oh, no?" He rolled his eyes. "So it was your idea to go to the Cages?"

I rolled my eyes back, matching his energy. "You know what? This is your fault."

"My fault?" That surprised him.

"Yep." I said, popping the p. "Your fault. If you would just call Cam."

"Kaia." He cut me off. "We agreed that it would be easier not to talk every day."

"Tryst, she's been sad." I sighed. "Like really sad since you left, and I thought this would cheer her up."

"You both could have been hurt."

"I know, and I promise I will never do it again, but please don't be mad at us."

"How pissed is Jax?"

"He won't talk to me."

"He'll never admit it, but he was scared. He knows what happens to girls at those kinds of events."

"How long before he forgives me?"

Trystan shrugged. "A day or two, probably." Trystan looked left. "Hey, Kai, I have to go, but I'll call you tomorrow and check on you."

"Call Cam."

"I'll think about it." He flashed an all-white smile, and then the screen went black.

I dropped my phone on the bed beside me, blowing out a heavy sigh as my gaze flicked to the closed door that Jax slammed. I hated that he was angry with me, and I wasn't sure how to fix it.

My phone buzzed.

It was Cam.

I swiped right.

"Hello."

"Omigod, thank god you're okay," Cam said. "I'm so sorry, Kai. I should never have taken you there. You are okay, right?"

"I'm okay," I said, staring down at my bandaged ankle. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I wasn't near the fight when it went down, and by the time it was broken up, I couldn't find you."

"A really hot fighter pulled me out of it, took me to the back, and bandaged me up."

"No freaking way." I could hear the excitement in her voice. "Like how hot?"

"Really hot, and I gave him my number."

"Does Jax know?"

"Jax isn't really talking to me. I don't think I've ever seen him this mad.
